A few months ago our church partnered with a ministry called Won By One. It is a ministry that sends missionary’s to Jamaica. There mission statement is “changing live, by changing lives”. I guess when I saw that there was something inside me that really resonated with that thought. If we are to reach out to people then we need to do something that really impacts/changes their life. I have been reading in Acts, and there are so many accounts of the apostles and their ministry to large crowds, but also to individuals.
A few of my favorites:
The beggar at the Gates of Beautiful – Acts: 3
Simon the Wizard – Acts: 8
The Ethiopian Eunich – Acts: 8
Each one of these people was impacted by one of Christ’s followers in an incredible way. The best part is that sometimes, because these people’s lives were changed it usually resulted in other people coming to know Christ as well (on larger scales).
So, today’s song showcase highlights a song that was inspired by this name “won by one”. I do admit that there is a little youth group, camp cheese in the name. But the message behind it is simple. We are all won, by the power of Christ’s love and grace. His sacrifice was once and for all for everyone. Because of that sacrifice we should be grateful, and in turn be willing to turn our lives over to Him for His glory. I am amazed at how foreign this concept is in the local church. I will be the first to admit, that I am often prone to wander, prone to leave the God I love. But I am more prone to remember that because God loves me, and He is worthy of my surrender. He demands it, like a parent demands obedience because they know what’s best.
So I wrote this song with that in mind . . . Because we have been given such great love, we should reach out to those in need. Because Christ laid down His life, we should be willing to do the same. We should see Christ as the one and only source of hope in our lives and the lives of those around us that He has called us to share this grace. So today, ask yourself as you listen to this song and read the lyrics. Is God the most important thing in my life? do I do everything I can to live for Him so that others may know Him?
“One life at a time, one moment of our lives. If we would share His grace, they would never be the same.”
“One life at a time, one moment of our lives. Because you showed us grace, we’ll never be the same.”
