Queen City Worship Fall 2010 Trailer from Rudy Landa on Vimeo.

Queen City Worship is a community of worship leaders from around the City of Charlotte who desire to use their gifts, passions and influence to literally change the City of Charlotte. It’s more than a movement, it’s more than a project. It’s the culmination of prayer, faith and dreams that have been burst into life.

Check out this trailer and share it among everyone you know. Look for the CD/DVD Documentary in Early 2011. There will be many opportunities sot join in this experience, and we’d love to partner with you as we use worship and it’s power to impact our city for Christ.

Dae-Lee and TC Worship Team Up

This weekend at Team Church w finished up our series Dreams with a message called “When Dreams Die”. I invited a local artist I met a few months back to come join us and collaborate on a song to get the message across that just because we’re losing, it doesn’t mean we have to lose our faith. Our dreams sometimes may seem dead, but we’re not, God is not done with you . . . We take heart because you He has overcome the world.

Here is a video blog from Dae-Lee about his experience at Team Church. It was a blessing to work with Him. He has a heart for the church and a bigger heart for Christ, to be a reflection of Him and not a distraction. Check out his account of the day below:

Here’s a shot of the band with Dae-Lee. Thanks to my team for not only welcoming him among us, but killin’ the tune so that the message was clear . . .

Keep dreamin’

Journal Entry on Worshiping Joyfully

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!

Psalm 100: 1,2

Often times during worship there is a sense of holding back for many reasons. New song, different leader on stage, we brought a guest and don’t want to make them uncomfortable. These are external reasons. These are things that are seen by others but they come from inside our heart. The internal reasons often are rooted in sin, insecurity, pride, jealousy, etc . . .
If we come to worship with these things in our heart we will not truly experience the grace of God, the freedom in the presence of His Spirit at work among the believers. We often think that worship is for us, a time for us to do something. Worship is for God, the end . . . It is a time for Him to be adored, praised for his good works on our behalf, and of utmost importance our SALVATION.

Below is an excerpt from the Daniel Fast Devotional reading our church has been reading through. It says best what our response should be. How we should align ourselves to truly worship God joyfully without reservation:
“God’s goodness and grace should motivate us to freely express our love and allegiance to Him with shouts of joy. This may mean that those who are more reserved must push back the boundaries of restraint and learn what it means to be expressive in their praise to God. Those who are so expressive that they miss the beauty of silence may need to learn from those whose style is more reflective.
Worship is a time to focus on our Creator, Redeemer, and Shepherd, and celebrate what He has done.”

This Sunday night our church has an opportunity to celebrate the last two weeks of great things our God has done. In our prayer times today ask the Lord to revel His goodness to you. Ask Him to remind you of the things He has done this last two weeks.
Maybe it is a renewed sense of your salvation in Christ, maybe it is a reminder of your purpose in this life, maybe it was conviction of sin that needed to be confessed and repented of, maybe it was a call to a particular service area or ministry at church. Whatever it is, know this, God is worthy of praise for everything He does in our life, from discipline to showers of blessings. He is worthy of praise for it all.

– Lord, today may we be reminded of your greatness in the big and small and know that you are to be praised through it all. You are worthy of our most exuberant praise. You are worthy of our most radical worship. Will you teach us to be true worshippers without regard to external influence, but with complete regard to an internal reverence and passion for your name.

OneNite — With One Voice

On June 9th we will celebrate with worship, baptism and communion during our quarterly gathering called OneNite. To make it even more special we will be teaming up with Champion Christian Center. Pastor Stacey Lemay and his church will be joining us at our Matthews Campus for combined worship and baptism. I can tell you right now you do not want to miss this special evening. If you are a part of the worship team I want you to be there, to help support and represent. Remember, you are leaders and you set the pace. So make plans to be there ready to worship and celebrate new life in baptism and in remembrance through communion as one body . . . all together for One Nite.

A Day of First’s

  • Today as I’m’ writing this I’m on the balcony of our hotel at the beach.
  • Right now, the band is finishing up their rehearsal in Charlotte.
  • Right now one of my awesome sound guys is paired up with a sound professional we’ve contracted to train and grow this team of devoted volunteers.
  • Today is truly a day of first’s, I’ve been on staff for over 4 years and have never done what is occurring right now. I’m not at church, I’m on vacation. I’m not worshipping anywhere, except in God’s sanctuary (aka the beach), and I’m not worried about leading anything right now. The band is in the capable hands of John Moore, a local worship leader who I’ve just recently had the pleasure of making his acquaintance. The only thing I regret is not seeing this awesome thing unfold from the perspective of our crowd at church today.

My sound team has not had the best of my leadership in the last few months, but we saw that the value they add to the service is indispensable, so we made the call to hire a sound professional to come and train this team.
***LEADERSHIP TIP*** If you’re not “the guy” don’t try to be, hire or train someone to be “the guy”
I’ve had the pleasure to work with Jeremiah Clever a few times on recording projects and know that he is probably one of the best in town at what he does. I fully trust that our team will be better because of the value he will add in these coming months.

Now, I must say that every ministry leader should get to the place where they can step off the stage and the ministry still happens. I just haven’t had the ability in the past 4 years. But something clicked about 6 months ago, and I began changing major area’s of the worship ministry at Team Church. I asked God to show me how to grow the team. The funny thing is the numbers dropped, but we’ve seen tremendous growth in the team, spiritually and in their performance.

I’m proud to lead this team and even prouder of the fact that they have grown to this level of leading other’s in worship with the God-given talents and gifts they possess. I’m glad that I am not there today (though I know I’m missing out). I know it will be an incredible experience for our church.

What fresh, new thing is God doing in your ministry these days? Maybe this week you can take a step out in faith to try something for the first time and see what God has in store for you and your congregation.

    Easter Sunday: Set-List 4/04/2010

On This Hill – Ultimate Victory

Our Easter Service this year was one of my favorites. We had many new families and faces in the crowd. We kept it really low-tech and focused on the true meaning which was straight up RESURRECTION power! Pastor Kenny spoke about the disciples and their view of the events between Friday and Sunday. He asked everyone in attendance, how the resurrection is going to change their lives. Knowing that Jesus rose from the grave should give us hope for the future . . .
Here is the set-list . . . we wanted to catch people up from Friday to Sunday so we used song and scripture to re-tell the story.

Old Rugged Cross / Death In His Grave / Rise and Sing – TC Worship Arrangement
    We Stand – Lee McDerment
    Jesus Messiah – Chris Tomlin
    Revelation Song – Kari Jobe
What Faith Can Do - Kutless
Rise and Sing - Fee Band

We were trying to think through what the next series should be after Easter. We realized that in preparation for Easter Sunday, that a lot of people celebrate the resurrection, but live their lives from that day on without the resurrection power. So we entitled our next series Messy, because Real life is not always clean and simple.

Don’t miss next week as we kick off the series: Messy / Wipe Away Guilt & Shame
